Go with Dr. Lu without hesitation.
15 years ago, pain around my left heel/ankle began but it was tolerable.
The pain slowly increased and gradually stripped me away from running, playing soccer, doing certain exercises, working out altogether and finally walking. Over the last 5 years, I did physiotherapy, healing treatments, wore orthotics, ultrasound and shockwave therapy all with no success.
A little over a year ago, I was referred to Dr. Lu by a physiotherapist from One Health Clubs (Mississauga) who made all the difference. Dr. Lu was able to diagnose the issue [partial fusion between heel bone (calcaneus) and bone underneath ankle (talus)] without having to see the MRI. Surgery (complete subtalar fusion) was scheduled within a couple of weeks after viewing MRI (based on availability). Surgery took an hour, was on 2 crutches for 8 weeks and after that I was on 1 crutch for 4 weeks. Slowly started walking 12 weeks after surgery, with physiotherapy, exercising and strengthening.
The surgery did restrict the range of motion in my left foot however it gave me back the ability to do yoga, swim and workout at the 9 month mark, snowboarding at the 12 month mark and looking forward to running/soccer at 18 month mark.

Re: Brostrom Ligament Surgery (right ankle).
Unbelievable though it may seem, for 6 years I dealt with a "mystery injury" (from inline skating) that didn't show up on MRIs, ultrasounds, bonescans and other tests. I couldn't stay on my feet for long stretches, nevermind run or skate. Fortunately Dr. Lu knew right away the solution to my problem, and I felt vindicated after bouncing around from doctors to other specialists. Hope for the future has returned to my life due to his meticulous care & precision. He is an inspiration and a credit to the field of medicine! Thank you ever so much.

Dr. Lu did my teenage daughter's bunion surgery. He is FANTASTIC! We initially had seen a grumpy old surgeon at Credit Valley hospital that was a sheer nightmare so we asked to be referred to someone else. We were blessed to get referred to Dr. Lu. His procedure was current and less invasive. He listened, he explained the procedure, was approachable, and he had even created a website so that if you forgot anything you could just refer to it. My daughter was comfortable with him and he is down to earth. The surgery was a success and my daughter is eager to get her second foot done. You can't go wrong with Dr. Lu and he's worth the drive to Georgetown!!!
