Our go-to spot for breakfast when I’m in town visiting Grandma. The atmosphere is really great, and it’s super clean with an open kitchen that is a well oiled machine. The service is always attentive and accommodating while Grandma takes her time to decide on her meal as she asks me to remind her which type of coffee she ordered last time :) When you own a business, you really take note of all the details... and the crew at Saint James certainly have nailed it.
I want to say thank you to everyone at Saint James for not only providing a place for us to enjoy during my visit, but also for setting the standard on a breakfast / brunch menu that rivals any of the top restaurants in Vancouver. Quite possibly the best breakfast (Salmon/ Asparagus Eggs Benny) I’ve had anywhere.

This is MY in town favorite date night, go-to place! My friend and I went on Valentines day for a sweet bite & higher class atmosphere (obviously higher than other restraunts on the Country Club Plaza). Our waiter was quite nice although we didn't see her much. The food from appetizer to main course was a huge stretch. The food I will give a 5/5 and the customer service

My bf and I had lunch here on Monday afternoon. I had the salmon and egg toast and he had the avocado toast. The food (and the coffee) was great. Service was okay... no real greeting from any of the staff or our server, very few words were exchanged and she seemed bothered by our presence. The atmosphere is charming, and open with the large windows looking onto James Street. However, this place has a serious cleanliness problem. We sat at the at the window seat and the window seal was FULL of dead bugs and dust. If we weren't tight for time, we would've left because I was so grossed out. I planned on taking a picture but I was so put off by it I ended up wiping it up myself. The surfaces in this place are just plain disgusting. You can tell not a lot of time or effort goes into basic cleaning by the staff, even the stairs heading downstairs were caked with dirt and dead bugs. I'm not sure if I'll consider coming back here if this continues to be a problem. Seriously off-putting to see and be surrounded by especially when you're about to eat the food they're putting on your plate!

So I have heard amazing things about Saint James. Everyone I know in Hamilton has told me about the pancakes, so I thought it would be great to finally try them. And wow, they were scrumptious! I don't think I have ever enjoyed pancakes as much these. The other meals looked great, and the coffee was splendid.

We came here for our first time as I had heard great things about their brunch. Unfortunately, our experience was tainted by our server. I don’t remember his name but he was not conversational or warm. At one point my husband had to ask twice in the same breath, for a fork and knife for his pancakes. He barely acknowledged us when we said thank you or asked for things. No ‘sure thing’ or ‘right away’. After waiting a while for him to return, I had to go inside and pay my bill because I was done waiting for him. He may have been having an off day but it threw us off. The food was good though. The drip coffee was quite bitter. I couldn’t even finish it. I still recommend this place for the atmosphere and food. There’s an option to sit outside, which we did, and it was so nice. I can’t wait to come back and try something different on the menu.
