Great food, friendly staff, and the patio outside was a lovely place to enjoy our lunch. Ever considered bacon and peanut butter on one bun? Well, don’t look any further.
Ended up at Cafe Whim because it was open and the other "top" restaurants on Where to eat in SF closed at 2pm (it was 1:45pm). Very happy with this accident as the sandwiches were tasty. I had the Diablo which was not at all spicy to my palate (I looove all spicy food), but had too much sauce which made it a bit too goopy and slippery. Could have been improved with some crunch in the sandwich (pickle or lettuce) and less sauce. My salad was surprisingly good.
The biggest downfall was the extremely long wait to get our food, about 35 minutes after we sat down, which is surprising for a sandwich!
Good sandwiches. Hubby had the Reuben and I had the hickory pig. He thought the Reuben had too much meat, which I think is ridiculous because isn’t that the whole point? The hickory pig could have used a sharper cheddar or some sharp mustard/more red onions. There is a kids’ menu and high chairs, much appreciated for our toddler. Service was friendly but slow, took 40 minutes to come out and there were only 4 other people in the restaurant. Would come back if in the area again.
Amazing menu, amazing atmosphere and amazing service! Will definitely be a place I visit often.
It is so nice to find these gems in Smith's Falls. Whim has an amazing selection of sandwiches, so many that you really just have to see for yourself. They serve breakfast and lunch (but I have only been there for lunch). I love the food and the coffee is great. The staff is terrific. In particular the owners are a delight. We had some bad luck with a busy restaurant the times we have been to Whim. There were catering gigs and a packed dining room both happening together, so our meals were a bit slow, but I doubt this is every ones' experience. Regardless, I say this is a definite place for you to try. I know I will go back!
