Lakeside Bala Limited

Lakeside Bala is a real treat in the Muskoka neighbourhood. It fits the bill of being a true restaurant as it does focus on the dining experience. The owners have been relentless in developing an atmosphere that my parents would love for a quiet dinner and so would I to take friends or family to enjoy a good meal with wine. It’s a perfect date night destination among other things.

From the outside it is a little misleading. It looks a little like a box. As soon as you walk in, you are in an immaculate and intimate dining setting that "resets" you immediately. Proper table settings, nice cutlery, a full but careful menu of selections prepared by the chef. A modest wine selection, a great staff - and an earnest effort to provide a professional and attentive experience without losing a little of the "cottage" vibe.

Prices are reasonable - noting that the candles, the kitchen, the table cloths, the aesthetic are all investments made by the owner that cost something. Portions are reasonable with a slight lean to the generous and the vegetables cooked with care that sometimes is overlooked by cooks who focus only on the central product.

If you haven't stopped in, I recommend it. You can come by boat, drive or just walk around Bala after and enjoy a wonderful civilized reasonably priced night out at this restaurant on the water.

Beautiful scenery. Really nice restaurant. Don't order a hamburger. It was the strangest texture I have ever eaten. It was good but so strange to eat.... it was the consistency of pate without the grit. Either way too much filler or it was purèed meat... or both. My sons felt the same and I heard a few other customers wondering as well. My husband had a fantastic fish entree that he enjoyed greatly. I think they need to expand their menu and make real hamburger hamburgers.

Beautiful spot on lake Muskoka. Patio was perfect. Menu is what I would call upscale casual. Enjoyed a truffle mushroom and brie burger, keto style. Service was great.

What a fantastic place! We stumbled upon this gem during an escape to Muskoka. We chose it at random and we’re so happy we did. It’s the best meal and all around experience we’ve had in a long time. Staff was incredible and the food was phenomenal. Special mention to chef Frank and our server Crystal. I can’t say enough good about this place. Highly recommend if you’re in the area. Thank you so much for making our mini vacation experience that much more enjoyable. We’ll be back!!!
