Margaret's suggestions for dinner were excellent! Will definitely be back.
Excellent food and service. Good location in the town center especially for the Avon theatre.
We found this place last minute before a show yesterday and were pleasently surprised. The decor was a bit misleading but the food was delicious and the bar menu was fantastic! Started with mussels in a creme tomato broth (devalo) then We had arctic char on cedar plank and a mango coconut curry. Both were hot, quick and delicious. Would return again just for the scotch!
We love Rene’s Bistro and make a point of dining there when we visit Stratford. Our last visit was particularly wonderful. We were provided a private table, which we had requested. The restaurant is what you would call “cozy,” so having such a private table was indeed a luxury. Our server, Marguerite, was wonderful and very well versed in the menu.
The chicken liver pate with preserved onions and crostini was absolutely wonderful. We scraped the container and argued over every morsel. My salmon with vegetables was superb as was my husband’s rainbow trout, the special of the evening. The portions were generous and certainly fine dining but without all the mannerisms and pretension that an sometimes accompany a fine dining restaurant.
I heartily recommend Rene’s Bistro. Out of the three restaurants (Keystone Alley, Mercer Hall, Rene’s Bistro), that we visited, Rene’s Bistro was definitely the winner!
The food is delicious, the place is quaint and the service impeccable. We had the Chicken Liver Pate, BLT Caesar, Bistro Mussels and Baby Backs - all perfectly paired with a light lager on a scorching hot day. The Banana Ginger cake capped things off perfectly. We visit Stratford every year and have tried a couple dozen places- this is our go-to from here on in.
