Makimono Japanese Restaurant

The waiting staff are short spoken which I like, being introverted. However the quality of my food was lacking compared to what I'm used to at other sushi places. The seaweed was near impossible to chew through, the chicken balls were lacking enough chicken, and the shrimp had an off taste to it.

The food tastes great. I did notice that certain types of sushi were not offered on the menu that other locations have. Like the Red dragon or Green dragon rolls, not sure if they only bring that out for dinner but like I said other locations have it around lunch time. We were there on a Thursday afternoon around 2 p.m. and I have to say the servers looked annoyed as ever when you would order more food (keeping in mind, we were very mindful not to waste any food) and had this face like they wanted you to leave. We were approached twice by the same server and asked if we were done and needed the bill even though I confirmed the first time that we were done and that the bill was paid. when I repeated myself the second time she went and asked another server in front of us if we indeed did pay. I wasn't impressed, I won't bother with this location again.

The food and the prices here are always 4 stars. I've been going to Makimono Ajax for years, I even have a VIP card! We go to this place for every special occasion, however today it was a different experience. The service was horrible. First, we were given the wrong menu, then some of our orders were missed/forgotten about, then after we already got dessert and were finishing up they came up with food we didn't even order.

Also we were seated close to the kitchen which was annoying since the staff speak very loudly to each other. Then when we spoke to the manager to voice our concerns, she did not apologize but suggested we simply don't give a tip. We still gave a tip, since there were multiple servers and some were fine. However I hope the service gets more professional and staff lose their attitude.
