Driving in downtown Burlington Sunday afternoon thinking of somewhere different for lunch, decided to park and walk around the village square, passing by a few English style pubs until we walked into the centre of the square and saw the sign for “the hood”, it was always on my list of must try places, so decided this was the day!
By the name, “the Hood” you would think it was an English pub (named after Robin Hood) but it’s not!
It’s more of a Mediterranean restaurant.... so I don’t get the naming?

It’s a small place with high ceilings, more garage style than intimate as others have stated, it’s clean and comfortable though.
The bar at the end of the room displaying alcohol and two taps.

I had the Kofta on rice, fries and a side salad, my guest, the vegetarian sandwich.

The Kofta meal was good, but not sensational, the vegetarian sandwich was soaked in oil defeating any healthy benefits and killing the taste of the vegetables as well as soaking the bread, this should be lightly brushed and grilled with olive oil only not dipped in it!

Only one dessert offered, a cheese pastry.

Our server was a young lady, pleasant enough , and she did check in on us, although there was no “smiley” face, unlike other reviews.
The server did tell us the menu was changing when I asked about the one dessert offering, maybe prompting me to give it another try.

Excellent hidden gem in Burlington. The interior is adorable, the food is well priced especially given how much food you get. Everything was delicious and fresh, would highly recommend the veg trio and carrot and beet salad.

I discovered The Hood thanks to a recommendation by a family friend. I can honestly say this is by far my favourite restaurant to visit while in Burlington! The dishes never disappoint: always fresh, massive portions, and taste delicious. Albert and his staff are lovely and always make it feel like home.
