Symposium Cafe Restaurant & Lounge

This was a glass half full experience. Should have been three stars but I can't blame the staff for this one. They had a huge table (in the twenties?) When we got there, but didn't have the staff to deal with that and everyone else. Still they worked hard to make it work. We were actually served by the manager more than the wait staff and I was happy to see that when it came time for the bill and tip, it was our waitress who was on the bill and got the tip. The staff was impressive, the food was average (again I think it was a result of the large table) but my wife and I enjoyed ourselves overall (just some minor frustrations). Kudos to the manager for how much he pitched in. He was working as much as any of the staff and you don't see that enough.

To start I like to say that this place its nice and cozy.
We had a really nice and friendly server, but unfortunately there were only two servers and it took forever to even get drinks.
Manager doesn’t seem to acknowledge customers or to give the girls a hand, which It would have made the service a lot faster.
Menu is misleading; they had an offer on Mondays starting at $4 per beer, but it gives you a few options and we thought those were the ones given that they are the only ones mentioned, so you ended up ordering from those choices. Well apparently the $4 beer promo it’s just for one type of beer that isn’t mentioned at all.

Cant say enough great things about this place. The servers, food manager are all outstanding.
The food is consistently great you always know what you are getting with large proportions.
Each day of the week they have different specials.
I specifically.love Brittany..she goes above and beyond.the call of service in making me.feel.welcome.
I love the connection she has and most nights we.visit.she is running the whole place on her own. I prefer the iPads to not be used I prefer one on one and not someone hiding behind a screen.
This is our new favourite.spot close.to home.

Brittany is a simply amazing server!! She hustles around the restaurant and makes sure you get what you ordered in a very timely manner!! She always asks how our meal is and if she can refresh our drinks. She is very kind, attentative and takes away used plates and and utensils from our table often. We love coming to Symposium and think you should be rated at least a 4.5 out of 5!! Thank you for hiring staff that love their jobs!! Kudos to this fabulous woman!!!

Kids wanted dessert so we tried it out. Kids were very happy with their sugar treats. Banana splits were most popular.

The outer seating can use some improved arrangement (especially the area to the left side of the door connecting the restaurant to the outdoor area). Some old or broken furniture is stacked up. A bit of an eye sore.

The place remains first choice for breakfast and now dessert.
