Checked out the Crowsfoot Smokehaus today. This is an extremely busy place, including the patio; reservations are needed and can be made online (but they don't answer the phone until after 12:00 pm). The food is sophisticated, and artfully placed on the platter.
The wife's meal-size salad was a complex mountain of greens and quite a treat. I had the schnitzel (amazingly large in size) and the garnishes and sides that come with it on the plate were also very tasty. One caveat, though -- the schnitzel is reconstituted pork, which tastes completely authentic but it just isn't the real thing!
Waterloo Region diners are coming here in droves.
