Hmmm. Let's start by the positive. The decor is really simple but tasteful. They have very attentive service. Cocktails are nice.
When you have a big chef's name attached to your restaurant, you build expectations, and expectations, when not fulfilled, bring disappointment.
I went for a lunch meeting. We ordered a beer and a cocktail. That was great. I guess they have a very good bartender. Then followed with 1 glass of local wine, 1 salad, 1 vegetarian burger, 1 salmon tartare and 2 coffees. (All for 132$ including tax and tip... for lunch). That's a lot. But it wouldn't have been a lot, if I had the wow factor, which I was expecting from a restaurant owned by Toqué. The salad, was salad. That's it. Maybe a bit of dressing, but that's it. All the rest was.... ok. Salmon tartare was well seasoned but again, nothing new. Colleague had the burger, seemed ok.
I didn't find any ingredients that had some work done to it. You know something creative, yet simple that could have added that wow factor. Even the food presentation was blah! I know a "brasserie" serves simple food. But at that price, you have to step it up a notch. Unfortunately, this is what happens when you have high expectations.
So if you go to this restaurant, keep your expectations low, and you'll probably enjoy.
Been here a couple of times and the food and atmosphere is absolute awesome, both for lunch and dinner. Will try their brunch once too. Steaks cooked to perfection and definitely try the salmon tartare!
Good wine selection. Cocktails are good. Menu is a little uninspiring for the price
Very limited menu for brunch so I decided to go for the lunch menu instead. The burger's patty was nicely seasoned, the fries had great crunchiness also without being overly oily. Service was average, absent when needed and overly present when no longer required. There is definitely room for improvement regarding being more attentive to customers' needs.
The decor is modern minimalist, suitable for business lunch or formal gatherings.
