Hands down best Indian restaurant in the greater Montreal region. They have something for everyone! Vegeterian friendly, Indian beers and friendly staff.. also, their menu encompasses a little bit of every region in India vs the typical North Indian restaurants in the city.. highly recommend!
The outside of the restaurant was littered with garbage in fact someone put out a bag left it by the front door. Plastic bottles napkins all over near the door. It doesn’t matter how good the food but when you do not present your business with cleanliness it sours peoples opinions. The entrance two doors filled with finger and handprints and it wasn’t a few either. Inside me I wanted to tell them please clean the window and door. You have a great little place please spend the money and clean it
Good Indian food. I was hesitant in going for the first time but it surpassed expectations as I have other favorites. I did find some dishes overly spiced even after I was told it's not that spicy. The place is very clean but I'm not crazy about the decor. Everyone I was with thought the same thing. You don't really feel like you are in an Indian restaurant. I especially did not like the lighting. It's warehouse like. I recommend some nice Indian style Lighting and a change of color scheme. Employees are very nice but they would need an extra waiter or two when it gets busy. I tried a few dishes and all were good. The butter chicken has a smoke taste to it which was new to me but pretty good. I also find that they do not need to drizzle so much oil on the naan bread which also has Nigella seeds in it. Other than that, I'd recommend this place.
Do yourself a favour, make this your number 1 choice when looking for authentic home cooked style Indian cuisine. I have eaten at over 20 different Indian restaurants in the Montreal and surrounding area, Bombay Choupati is excellent on all levels. The restaurant is small but cozy, service is very friendly and fast, they make you feel like a friend and not just a customer. Most importantly of course is the food, mouth watering, generous portions and very reasonably priced. The food is always great, always consistent taste, temperature and flavor. The meats used are of excellent quality and veggies are always fresh. This place is popular, you have been warned, so be prepared to wait in line at peak hours but it is worth the wait. They might be known for their huge dosa but everything on the menu is excellent and worth trying.
Definitely the best butter chicken I've ever had in my life. 5 star rating is an understatement to how good this place is. Best Indian restaurant I've been to. Great service, Great food. As an Indian, I rather eat here than at home (sorry mom).
