Wonderful! Cosy atmoshpere, nice genuine UK pub feeling. Great food! Nice live music, too!
Solid place, very friendly staff, the band that was playing on the night I went in was actually surprisingly good. Played a lot of classic hits and done great medleys. Only downside is it is a touch overpriced, especially for a bar in Valois. Also it's kind of annoying that you have to pay for every drink immediately unless you leave a credit card. I understand the reasoning behind it, it just kind of kills the pub vibe, especially since there was a doorman/"security" type just standing and stating at people.
This authentic Celtic pub was recently purchased and fully renovated by the folks who own the Ye Olde Orchard pubs. Great pub foods, a few terrific Indian curries, many beers on tap, great selection of scotches and live music some nights!! The seasonal terrace is open for family dining, but the inside pub is for adults-only until they get their restaurant license (soon, I hope)!
First time there since the changes. Wife and I ordered a pitcher of sangria and some dinner. Fast and friendly service. Fries done near perfect. Fish n chips (my meal) was great, 2 big pieces and lots of fries. Wife's was steak and mushroom pie, and she enjoyed it very much.About the only thing was the prices being a couple of dollars more than should be, and the trains almost literally within spitting distance lol.
Quite the upgrade and a well needed move into the modern era for this little Valois institution. Menu and beers are much wider now. Not sure they still do brunch but they should if enough of the demand is there. This place will continue to go far. Be kind to the folks there, they are good people.
