The Shack

Excellent BBQ y’all! Hubs got the pulled plate with fries and beans. VERY GOOD! I got the Shack Philly. It’s a Philly cheesesteak with brisket. Excellent. (You won’t need mayo, the meat is NOT dry.) We were told they plan to move to the old Shoney’s one exit north, so just be aware. I’m not sure when that will happen. Also, can we talk about the cute tiny ketchup bottle??

Cool atmosphere, good food and good service. My husband had the sasquatch burger... the burger was cooked perfectly and was very good but really could have used a little more brisket and definitely more sauce. I had the fried green tomato BLT which was excellent after I added mayo to it. The sweet potato fries and onion rings were both delicious. The baked beans were okay - a little too sweet in our opinion and they were advertised as having conecuh sausage in them but we neither one had any in ours. Still, overall a very good meal and we even finished it off with some blueberry bread pudding.🙂

Hands down best smoked chicken I’ve had. I always plan on trying some of their other cue (my wife loves the pulled pork sandwich) but I always get the chicken with Alabama white sauce.

Super nice servers and a nice cool spot to spend a hot afternoon in.

Great atmosphere. Friendly service. Excellent food. If you're traveling through the area, this is where you want to stop to eat! It's right off of 65, so you don't go out of your way to get here.
Our waitress, Nicole, was super friendly and very attentive. We'll definitely come back next time we're driving through!

I got the full rack of baby back ribs with cheese grits and onion rings. The ribs were tender and juicy. The dry rub was very good, with a little sweetness. The ribs were good on their own, without sauce, which is always a great sign! The sauce was a nice addition without being necessary.

The grits were creamy. They needed a little salt, but, otherwise very tasty!! The onion rings were crispy and perfectly-seasoned!!

Great atmosphere, great food, and a friendly and attentive staff!! I'll definitely stop back by next time I'm in the area!!
