The hibachi side is always fun and the sushi always fresh.last night is best experienced for my kids.love it.
Employees were friendly and helpful. However, I ordered a Bento Box and my significant other ordered udon, and we ordered a sushi roll to share. We both just received meat, vegetables, and rice. Never got our sushi. When we mentioned that my partner didn't get noodles, the waiter informed us that they didn't serve noodles at lunch, but did go have some made for us. Food was good, even if it wasn't what we ordered.
I was a fan of a Japanese restaurant in Vestavia Hills for years, at times eating there 2 or 3 times a week. Unfortunately they closed due to a major structure fire. Since that time I have searched high and low looking for a replacement that measured up. I tried many places and spent a lot if money in my search. It's not that they were bad, it's just that they didn't fill that void.
I ended up at Yuki on a whim because the place we were going was too crowded. I explain all of this to say, I have FOUND my replacement for my favorite place!! For me, it is all about the mustard sauce......I use it on everything (except the salad) :) The food was great, cooked the way I like it so no complaints there.
In all fairness for a review, I should disclose the "cons". As a whole, they need to step it up on overall cleanliness. Not the cooking surfaces, but the floors and sides of the grill. Of course no effect on the food, but rather an observation (this is the reason for only 4 stars) The only other con I mention is the waiting staff could be more attentive. I actually wandered around at one point with my drink in hand looking for a refill.
All that said, I will sum up with this: if you are looking for a Japanese steakhouse with good food, great mustard sauce, and reasonably priced (four adult lunch meals at $56 plus tip), you have found it here.
