Great fried chicken and so much more. One of the best meat and three diners in Birmingham. Most famous for their fried green tomatoes, but those are not close to the best thing on the cafeteria line. It is always fun to seat and watch the trains come by, too. It can get crowded, but they are very good and moving people through the line.
Had to stop in for nostalgia sake and it was just perfect. The food really is amazing. The people, even the other customers, are so nice.
First time I ever been here.
An I was stuffed. It was awesome!!
Never had hush puppies made how they do it.
Baked chicken was great. Greens, okra, cookies and creme pie.
Very much worth it. Reminded me of high school with the line and finding your spot to eat. It was great

There prices are too high as well. Everytime me and Mom have ever eaten there it 25.00 - 30.00. That's too high for two senior citizens. We can get a meat and two sides at Winn Dixie for 3.98. That's much better price for two little women.
Not only a historic treasure but a great place for blue plate meals. Always fresh and alot of locally sourced selections. Fried okra is best around. Can't go wrong if you want good home cooking.
Tip, discount if paying with cash.
