Beautiful location…accommodating staff. Food was expensive but fresh. There is a fee added for dining in and tip. My salad looked great but the lettuce wasn’t clean. They did offer to give something else.
I want to love this place and downtown needs a good breakfast joint, but there are still many many issues.
The good: avocado toast and pancakes were incredible. I’m not sure why avocado toast is described as “shareable” if it is on one piece of toast, but it is VERY fresh. 10/10
The bad: I’m not a fan of ordering at the counter then it being brought to us. We were a party of two and we had to sit in the middle of other parties on long table across from each other. Besides people eavesdropping, we could barely hear each other. The scrambled eggs were not fully cooked. We had to ask multiple people for refills, napkins, jelly, and a spoon for coffee. The gravy had so. Much. Grease. It was orangish color. The hash browns were inedible and very cold. It seemed more of a casserole hash brown then cooked on a griddle. Finally the music would play a song and then stop half way. Then nothing for a while, then play a country song, then stop. This went on for 30 minutes until someone figured it out.
I personally think they opened too early and I’m hoping all the kinks will be worked out soon. The most telling sign were the planters at the entryway. Half of it was filled with rocks and snake plants and the other half was unfinished. What a metaphor.
In a few weeks we will try again and update. I’m rooting for you Staks!
The complete shining stars this experience was the fried Chicken on the chicken stack. A huge piece of chicken that was cooked perfectly and seasoned deliciously.
Lemon blueberry pancakes were good, but you'll want to get a side of syrup to go with them.
The grits tasted like a combination of grits, gravy, and potato soup. Great flavor if it hits the spot.
Biscuits were HYUGE!
Truly eggceptional experience here this morning - would give more stars JUST for the Cinnamon Stack - o my goodness!!! Everything we tried was amazing: two egg breakfast came with a biscuit as big as my dog, the cinnamon pancakes made me wish I had more stomach space, and the chicken and grits were just unreal - that mushroom baschamel sauce is LEGIT! WE WILL BE BACK!!!
Staks Kitchen in Auburn, AL is located in downtown Auburn and is open from 6:30 am to 2:30 pm everyday. It is one of the newest restaurants in downtown Auburn. They serve breakfast, brunch or lunch. Enjoy everything from pancakes, french toast, biscuits and gravy. Other offerings include omelets, cinnamon rolls, burgers, shrimp and grits and sandwiches cooked to order plus so much more. They also offer hand-crafted cocktails and coffees to make your meal extra special. I especially like the smoked salmon omelet with capers, pickled red onions, cream cheese and balsamic drizzle. Nice indoor or outdoor seating. Close to Toomer’s corner and other great downtown shopping
