This restaurant has been on my radar for a while. I was traveling home from another city and it was on the way so I stopped for a visit. It is located in an old family home in a rural area. If it wasn't for a prominent sign and a good sized parking lot I would have driven past it. The interior is quite charming with wood floors and period decor from the middle of the last century.  The menu which changes daily features meat and three options that was once prevalent in this area. I chose pork tenderloin with a honey cranberry reduction which was the perfect compliment for the meat. Veggies were turnip greens, lima beans, and creamed corn which were appropriately seasoned. Cornbread and iced tea hit the spot too. I finished with a piece of caramel coconut pie which I took home for later. This place definitey has old-time southern cuisine so if you want to enjoy a meal from yester-year in a country setting then add this spot to you bucket list.

Up to this point I've described the food and the feel of this place.  Now about the wait staff. I had the most charming server ever. An attractive lady named Diana (think Princess Diana) who absolutely captivated me with her explanation of the daily menus, the history of the restaurant  and the original recipes created by the chef/owner who was actually born in the house and who dropped by to chat with me too.

When you go for a visit be prepared to stay for awhile. Take time to converse with the staff and the other customers.  If you do you'll be transported back in time that is much different from today's hustle and hurry up society.  And be prepared to hear, "Y'all come back for another visit!"

Great southern food. We had catfish, shrimp and a crab cake. Desert was also good. I recommend a fried pie or coconut caramel pie. Wonderful hospitality.

Great home cooked food. The restaurant is family owned. You get the full southern hospitality. I highly recommend this place.

Great comfort country cooked food. Food portions are large and great selections of side vegetables. Not very organized when it comes to service for a large group as waitress would have to ask who ordered the plates she was bringing out. Atmosphere was homey but temperature inside was a bit warm even though air conditioning & ceiling fans were on.

Definitely worth checking out if you've never been. The menu changes and they may run out of your favorite side item, but the food is good. It's literally an old house where "Grandmother" used to live. Pretty neat. We tried the meatloaf, chicken tenders, chicken fried chicken, and chicken & dressing. Everyone enjoyed their meal.
