Wintzell's Oyster House

Pulled over on the way to FL from TX in the pouring rain and this place was the light at the end of the tunnel! My sister loved the fresh fried shrimp basket. We got the seafood pastas and they were great! Don't skimp on the bread pudding either!

Being able to choose between waiting inside for a table or sitting outside without a wait was a nice touch. Waitress was nice enough to bring an extra plate for us splitting the food; didn't even have to ask. Good food, good drink selection, better service.

The food was scrumptious and fresh, and the service was flawless! I was pleased the oysters were a good size and my companion said the chicken was seasoned in the pasta. The seafood was fried to golden perfection.

There was outdoor seating, but it is on a one way that makes finding the front door kind of awkward.

Save room for dessert! My wife and I just finished an excellent lunch at Wintzell's. I ordered the grilled seafood plate (pictured) and my wife ordered grilled shrimp and scallops. Everything was cooked perfectly. Our server, Jason, was friendly, professional, attentive, and happy to provide recommendations. Although we were full from our meals, we still managed to enjoy the key lime pie and it did not disappoint! All in all a great meal!

Great place to eat whether you're a local or visiting Mobile. I lived in Mobile a few years back in 80 and 81. My office was on Government St so Wintzell's for lunch was the place to go and also to take clients and out of town folks. The walls are covered with signs saying all kinds of things which provides great entertainment while you wait for your food. If you love seafood and fresh oysters this is the best place in all Mobile and the food is reasonably priced. For the non seafood eater in your group they offer other items on their menu.
