What a great restaurant! The service is top notch, and I used to frequent this place at least once a week when I worked downtown. Highly recommend the "Granny Smith Apple Roll..." which is a sushi roll made with a hint of finely chopped tart apples! Surprisingly delicious! Come for the good food and stay to relax with a glass of wine and fresh fruit while enjoying a view of the Riverfront Park and Alabama River as it slowly flows by.
My wife enjoyed the food but she likes new things. I tried the ginger chicken and it was good but I didn't eat the vegetables. A bit pricey but enjoyed the experience.
The duck curry was exceptional, my wife got the exotic family - a veggie dish with shrimp - and was not very impressed with it, but did I care? Nope, just kept eating my delicious curry and nodding in agreement when she told me how bland her meal was.
Some other reviewer said the beer selection wasn’t that good, they had at least a dozen to choose from, I’ve seen worse. I was too full for desert but I spied a guy getting a piece of lemon meringue pie that looked pretty good. I’ll have to try that next time.
The green curry was very good. Portion sizes are reasonable, and allow for an appetizer or soup along with it. Beer selection is a bit limited (or caters to an Alabama crowd) but they have a full bar. All in all a good choice if you are in the mood for a little break from the local norm (but I do love BBQ). The food and varied menu is excellent, and the atmosphere and the history behind the building itself makes the whole experience magical. Love it!
Tom yum soup is light and flavorful. Fresh spring rolls are the right texture to enjoy all the flavors. The green curry was very good.
