Modern Margarita

We love Modern Margarita so much. We have been going to the new location at least twice a week since the opened. Our last time there I got a taco I have ordered many times before but it didn’t taste right. The bartender noticed my reaction to it and offered to get me another one. The manager came over to talk to me about it. When I told him I’ve had that taco many times before but this one didn’t taste right, like the meat was bad, assured me he checks the line 2x a day and smells all the meat before it’s cooked. He kept going on and on about how there is no way anything was wrong with it. I finally just said “Ok” and stopped talking to him because it got so uncomfortable.

He also was making fun of a thin woman at the end of the bar. Calling her a skeleton behind her back.

There has been a lot of feedback from the people I know that go there often that he makes customers uncomfortable and doesn’t treat the staff well.

I love Modern Margarita. The food is solid (I love the chips and salsa) and the drinks are fantastic! Even more, the staff has been consistently awesome. I go often and all staff are awesome! Special shout outs to Chera, Devon, Nikki, Terra, Sarah, and manager Chandler! Easy 5 stars!

None of the below reviews are recent or of this brand new location. This is a review for MM that just opened at the intersection of Gilbert and Ocotillo.

It was literally day one, so the slow service was expected, especially with the place being completely packed around 3pm on a Friday. I sat outside at the bar. The interior decor, bar layout, bar seating and outside seating was nice and modern.

Service was professional and friendly. The margaritas were very, very good. I tried the blood orange and the mezcal margarita and highly recommend both. They have standard as well as frozen margaritas and other cocktails all around the $10-$14 range with one or two around the $18 mark. The chips and salsa is around $3.50 but very good. A large bowl of fresh, homemade, thin, salty chips and the salsa was also delicious with a hint of heat and smokiness to it.

I ordered three a la carte tacos at $5.50 a piece; shrimp, miso mahi, and fried fish. All were very good flavoring.

All in all, Modern Margarita is an excellent place to grab some good drinks and tacos. Definitely on the higher price range. Service was friendly and I’m positive the speed will pick up as they get their footing. It’s a solid 3.5 a 4 stars right now with potential to get even better! I will definitely be back!
