Happy Bao's

We had the signature dumplings, dandan noodles, xiao long bao, and the "hamburger" bao. The xiao long baos came deflated the first time and we sent it back; second time around was... okay. The hamburger bao had decent flavor but it didn't wow me. The signature dumplings were excellent; great flavor, piping hot, just the right amount of flour. The dandan noodles were pretty good, too.

So good! The #8 takes a minute, but it's totally worth it!

I had my doubts because this place is “new”. I wanted to wait until it worked out any issues it may come across as a new restaurant. BUT boy, am I glad I tried Happy Bao today! I crave dumplings and actual Chinese foods that aren’t so muted by the “Chinese-American touches” that cater to the general population. I love both. but this place was a refreshing take on Chinese cuisine in Az. The dumplings and Xiao Long Bao were FANTASTIC. The fried rice was just the right amount of sticky. And the service was prompt and efficient. It was super busy, and the restaurant (while too small for the demand) was pleasant; as long as you know you may be sitting next to a stranger. It’s ok, though! Because the food was too good to be uncomfortable. The prices? JUST RIGHT, if not a steal! Great stuff.
