El Charro Restaurant & Cocktail Lounge

I can't remember how long it's been there, but I know it's been a fixture in that location for a while.
The food wasn't quite as good as I remember, but it's definitely still tasty. I wouldn't hesitate to eat there again.
I used to love the vibe in the bar. It has that old school feeling to it that made it fun to belly up for a cold cerveza or margarita and shoot the breeze with the regulars. I do miss the classic Michelob they used to have on tap. I believe they were the last in town to have it.
Like many restaurants (of those that are still open), they're still trying to navigate their way through a post pandemic world.
The bar is the primary seating area for the restaurant now, so it doesn't quite have the same feeling it used to. But the staff are friendly and it still has that local family-owned feel.
I really want the place to survive and hopefully thrive again, so I hope people will support them.

This is a very old school restaurant. Family owned and delicious old school recipes. Excellent margaritas. But finding employees is hard these days my server was new last night and she ordered hamburger not shredded beef for me which was a big disappointment. But the food tasted fantastic not outstanding like I wanted... I still love their food. I hope they can find some employees.

Mario, our server was awesome! Food was ok. The tortilla on the crispy tacos could have been crisper. Beef sour cream enchiladas were good.

Some of the most amazing authentic Sonoran Mexican food. Located in homie downtown Mesa, it is a local staple almost a hundred years old. We both had the green chili Burros deep-fried with guacamole and sour cream. This is some of the best food with ever had. Clean Place. Excellent customer service and friendly servers. They earned all their points with us. Can't wait to go to the bar and try some more of the food!

Feb 2022 - the bar is so quaint and retro. Brad the bartender was friendly and attentive. The burros were just as good if not better.
