The Lab of BBQ

Tried this place on a whim because where I intended to go was closed. The people were very kind and seemed to be just trying to make a living. I think they may just be new at having a restaurant. I was the only customer in sight and waited for 20+ minutes.

They had just opened for lunch but didn't have things like mashed potatoes or ribs. There's not music playing and very little on the wall, so it almost feels like you're not supposed to be there. The brisket was burned, the chicken was good, the potato salad was good, the mac and cheese was okay, the sweet potatoes lacked flavor and the collard greens weren't something I was ultimately willing to try.

The staff was very polite and tried to make up for the wait with extra cornbread (which was responsible for at least five minutes of the wait time) and some cobbler I didn't order. This experience was a mixed bag of good and not-so-good, but I hope they figure some things out and start doing well so guys like me aren't their only customers for lunch on a Friday.

Some of the best BBQ we’ve had. Ordered for a family get together and everyone loved it.
