Last August, my mom had surgery across the street, so my dad and I were living at the hospital. And almost everyday, of the 2 weeks we were there, we walked across the street for breakfast. The food is so good with that home feeling, and the staff was so friendly and nice. A couple of days I had to go check on the house, they asked where I was and if I was okay. We were just super impressed with how well the treat their patrons. And when we went in yesterday we were so happy to see them open, and they remembered us and were so happy to see my mom up and walking about. We were so happy and they are so considerate and polite.

5th Avenue Cafe is a Phoenix icon. It started in the 1950s as Upton's and has been going ever since. Paula has been there for many years and is my favourite server. Breakfast is served all day but get there before they close at 2 PM. This is a family owned business and they are happy to accommodate adjustments to their menu offerings. The current owners are Earl and Dawn. If you go, introduce yourself and tell them where you're from. They're delightful people.

If you want a true diner experience and good food. 5th avenue cafe is good. Close to downtown and history of phoenix on the walls. The food and prices were awesome! Definitely a family friendly diner. Good Saturday eats

    1st time dining here.
    Friendly service.
    Nice casual atmosphere.
DELICIOUS food ... we had the Fisherman's Platter, and substituted Cod for Catfish.
    We will go back.
    I highly recommend this restaurant.
