The restaurant is clean and well maintained. It's a nice place for a quick bite. They sell a bit of beer and wine as well as shrimp or English style fish and chips. It is a bit bland no real spices in the food. Still not bad. The food is quite economical but the 16 oz. Fountain drink for $2.50 is a bit steep. Service is good.
Good, consistent home cooked foods. Three windows to order and quick service. Just opened a patio for dining. Expect long line during Lenten Fridays.
The fish is definitely better than Pete's. Their cocktail sauce however, is disgusting. I couldn't finish my fish because I didn't have anything to dip it in. If I come back I will only have the fried zucchini and onion rings. The ranch is decent.
Awesome food!! First time here. Can't believe the size of the items. The fish is to die for, very tasty! Fried oysters were great as well. If you are a large party I suggest ordering the larger sized all fish orders. The PA system sucks when they call out your order #, so listen closely! Enjoy!
God damn, this place is good!
I had the 2 fish and 2 shrimp combo with fries. I assumed it would be tiny pieces of shrimp like you see at Long John Silver's. Boy, was I wrong! They were mighty big. I almost regretted my order as it was just so much food! But I powered through and loved every single bite. I really enjoyed the breading. It wasn't too thick and didn't overpower the taste of the shrimp. The fish was nice and crispy on the outside while remaining perfectly cooked on the inside (not overcooked and dry like you sometimes encounter at much crummier joints). The fries were nice and piping hot. Nothing special, but a perfect compliment to the fish and shrimp. An array of fine sauces are available for your dipping pleasure. Overall, just a great meal that fills you up and doesn't break the bank.
The decor is a bit dated, no doubt. It's your usual mix of cliche nautical paintings and furnishings. Definitely a hole-in-the-wall vibe. Don't let that discourage you, though. It's a glorious little dive (ocean joke!) that is full of charm.
Side note, Knock Kneed is super close to Sky Harbor International Airport, so if you are sending friends or family away for a while, stop here first and you will send them on their way full and happy!
Side note 2, why I even thought to compare this place to Long John Silver's in anyway is beyond me. This hunts, captures, kills, and mounts Long John Silver's on their bathroom wall. Yeah, that's right, the bathroom wall, not even the living room wall.
