Today we had a great lunch with beer and vietnamese style appetizers, it was delicious, personal service from the owner. The waitress was awesome. If you want to get out of the house stop by grab a cocktail and enjoy the food, this is our 3rd visit since Wednesday. Thank you for a great meal... see you soon
So far in Arizona, this place hits the closest to home cooked for me. It's good but has that little extra bit of something that makes it a little more special. The pho is rich and full. Proportions are just right and the noodles were cooked perfectly. Most of the time it's the under or overcooked noodles that I expect to be eating, so this was a nice surprise. Usually you can only find food like this in a hole in the wall that's run down and has flies. Not here. Basilic has a hip, clean and modern vibe that's not overdone. And, it has a bar with a current drink menu which is the cherry on top. Very friendly and genuine staff especially for a Friday night almost closing time. This place needs to catch on already. I will not hesitate to be more adventurous with the menu here which I can not say about pretty much all the others. Check it out.
First time here. The staff is extremely friendly and knowledgeable of the menu. The view is amazing in the evening and the atmosphere inside is cozy. It's in the heart of Phoenix. You should definitely come and check it out. We will definitely come back and get some more spring rolls.
I have to admit that I’ve never been a huge fan of Vietnamese food, though Basilic Vietnamese Kitchen may have changed my mind. We started with the Crispy Shrimp Chips which are as stated. They were nice and it gave us a chance to try out the condiments on the table to see what we liked. We then moved on to the Appetizer Combination Platter. Great choice! The egg rolls were fairly standard, the Spring Rolls were quite good with the different sauces, and the Crispy Calamari was divine! They pair the Calamari with a stir fry charred mild pepper which balances out the heaviness of the fried food. I’ve never seen it served this way before and my taste buds were happy for the contrast. I had the Spicy Lemongrass Chicken. As a hardened AZ transplant I was hoping their “Spicy” description referred to a level of heat, sadly it did not. The dish was quite good in flavor but lacked any heat. My companion had the Spicy Stir Fried Beef. He said the same; good flavor, zero heat. Overall the experience was good though I would still say they are in the “soft” opening phase where they are still getting the operation to function smoothly. We’ll be back!
The decor is cool and modern, so glad this building was taken over by this new Vietnamese restaurant. I loved how the owner explained the condiments and how to use them in their dishes; I would never have known. You can tell the ingredients are fresh by their bold flavors and bright colors. Their homemade lemongrass condiment was something I never had before that added that extra zing to anything you put it on. I'm so happy to have this restaurant so close to home. I'll be back for sure!
