Original Gyros Express

I guess I went into this place with my hopes too high since earlier this week I had a Chicken Pita at Pita Jungle. At Original Gyros Express, I had a Grecian Chicken Breast Combo on the Daily Lunch Specials menu. I added Feta cheese and extra Tzatziki sauce. It was... Okay. That's about it. It was food, it filled me up and that's where it ends.

There were onions on it, but I couldn't taste them, they weren't flavorful at all. There were tomatoes, which were bland and the Tzatziki sauce didn't taste like what I'm normally used to at Greek restaurants or even at fake Greek restaurants, for that matter.

The food was just Blah! I couldn't really recommend this food to anyone knowing that I had Greek food that was worlds better at places like My Big Fat Greek Restaurant, Athenian Express and Pita Jungle.

Take this review for whatever it's worth as I understand I'm the outlier when it comes to the majority of the reviews for this place. But I can honestly say the $11 I paid for this lunch was definitely NOT worth it!

I have lived near and eaten at The Original Gyros Express for 25 years. Seen other places come and go,or water down their flavor to not offend the inexperienced palettes. Their decor and their flavors remain unchallenged. The decor is unpretentious taking you back to a time when independent people tried to share a bit of their home country with their new neighbors. The food can take you back to that little village in Greece where you stopped to catch a bite.
Never been to Greece? Close your eyes and take a bite!

One of the best Gryo shops I’ve visited in Arizona. Friendly and informative staff. Great portions for the price.

Husband and I got the Gyro platter. Everything was pretty good, the Gyro sauce was a bit bland. The orders of mushrooms we got were GREAT!! Seating is limited because it's a small family owned restaurant. Very busy during lunch hours, but the gentleman still gave fast service surprisingly.
