Anacapa Restaurant

We went Friday night for their fish fry. The fish was beautiful; the slaw, not so much..full of mayo; ugh!
Also, for the age group in this area, the Old Fashioned cocktail was just terrible; we had 2 at the table and both were just not good!
Strawberry Salad; not recommened.
Our server, Irene, was excellent and always ready to please. The manager, Jill, was very helpful also.

We live in Sun City West and visit Anacapa several times a year and we have noticed that there is one consistent problem and that is the service. The food is decent, the location is great and the staff is friendly but they obviously have not been trained well because the service is always (and I am not exaggerating - it has been every time) slow and inefficient.

The wait staff is always running around and they are (or seem to be) busy but they neglect to check on things like our drinks and bread. Basic Restaurant 101 stuff. Last night my soda was empty for 10 or 15 minutes and I finally flagged the waiter down and asked for a refill. Again, if it was a one time thing I wouldn't complain but this is a theme at this restaurant.

Last night, we were with another couple and when the waiter brought our checks he just laid them on the table and walked away. He didn't say anything like "Thanks for coming in" or whatever. Just walked away and one of our friends even mentioned how odd that was. And we were not a problem table we are easy customers to please.

So, note to Anacapa management. Many of the reviews on Google state pretty much what I just said so that should tell you that you have a problem with the training of your wait staff.

A lovely restaurant on a lush golf course. Great Service, Inviting Atmosphere, very good food. Price is average, try it you will like it.

I have visited Anacapa several times. Service has always been friendly. Service pace is usually fairly slow, relaxed. Food has always been good. There is a small room for special parties. Our family reserved for a special dinner several years ago and management went above and beyond to make the experience special. I would recommend for parties. Beautiful location.
