Portillo's Hot Dogs

This place is Amazing! I wish there was another location closer to where I live but the 30 minute drive from home is worth it! They have the best polish dog I've ever had! And man! That chocolate cake shake though! Do not pass it up, it's large though so sharing is caring.

My family was split on how much they liked the food. The chili cheese dog was excellent according to my husband, hamburgers were over done, and Italian beef was tasty with a side of the "gravy". The fries are golden brown and crispy. Overall the experience was great and time spent in line to getting food was efficient.

The chopped salad I had was much better than I had even hoped for. It was huge, and for the number of calories listed, I had anticipated something much smaller and less tasty. It may be it was more, shall we say, calorie rich than advertised, but either way, was worth the price.

The atmosphere, however, was not at all to my liking. The room was so completely packed with signs that it was a challenge just to find where to place your order, and the almost unintelligible numbers being called over the loudspeaker never let up. It was an absolute bombardment to nearly every sense from the moment I walked in the door, and it made it difficult to relax and enjoy my food in peace.

Always great. I'm from Chicago so I know the place and how it all works there. At the time of my visit, the line was out the door. Took a total of 20minutes from line to order, to food in face. Would highly recommend for the beef/sausage combo, dipped and juicy with sweet peppers. Make sure you order fries without salt, they way over due the salt thing. This way you can add your own and assure they are made per your request and fresh.
Desserts are good too. Strawberry short cake or the chocolate cake is very sharable and delicious.
Parking is challenging due to all the activity in and out of this place. Perfect location from Devils Head Stadium as well as Sloan Field where the Chicago Cubs hold their spring training.

Great food and reasonable price. Don't expect fast service because they are so busy but well worth the time. They can't do things much faster. It's a fantastic assembly line and enjoyable to watch. Recommend to all.
