I finally got to stop in and try the food at Mestizos, and it was tasty! Let me start out by saying that if you decide to visit you will need to bring cash. It's a CASH ONLY Restaurant. Needless to say I could only spend what was in my pocket. Taco prices seemed a bit high at first, but you do get a small side of rice with your Tacos. We had the Nopalitos, Bean, Veggie, and Ground Beef Tacos. I would definitely have each one again! Loved the flavors and the Veggie Taco had a slight crema (cream) sauce to it which was very good. Great vegetarian options as well. Service was great and quick, but we were the only guests in the restaurant. The place is quaint with a modern Mexican flare to it. They do have a back patio which seemed spacious. If you are in the neighborhood and looking for some tasty tacos stop in to Mestizos and satisfy your taste buds. Recommend :)

I'm giving it five stars because the food was good and the staff was very helpful in providing suggestions and descriptions. Service was prompt and the food didnt take too long to prepare. I was helped by a young man and a young lady. He suggested an ahogado taco which had a delicious green sauce poured over it deliciously plumped up with shrimp. Ahogado taco was my favorite along with the beans. The tacos can come meztizo which is a taco that looks like an empanada or like the most often seen open taco.
The tinga chicken taco wasnt bad, I just think more flavour could do. Perhaps more chipotle sauce.
The beans were delicious! I really liked them. Not many Mexican restaurants have delicious beans.
Lastly, the pastel de galleta was good. And I'd try it again. I dont usually like lemon flavored desserts; this one was an exception. The tostada de ceviche or fish tostada was good.
Although the setting is very tiny, I do suggest giving this restaurant a try. The decor is very cute and works well. The service was great, and they were helpful. One caveat is that they only take cash.

I will visit again to taste their other tacos and seafood selections.

Cute place reminiscent of little Mexico meets 4th Ave without as much hustle and bustle. Local, authentic, but pricier than I'd expect for this side of the highway.

The shrimp with green sauce was our favorite taco of the bunch.
