La Paloma is one of those places that makes me very happy that Google Maps exists. As first-timers in Arizona, we were looking for a place to eat, after having left Tucson in the morning, and made stops at Saguaro National Forest and Picacho Peak State Park. La Paloma isn't far from the highway, but I'm not sure which random turns we might have otherwise made if we didn't have our maps' guidance.
The restaurant, and the folks working there are very welcoming. Bright colors and friendly service made this a substantial step up from our usual 'near the interstate' expectations.
We visited on a Sunday, when they have a special on Posole and Menudo. My wife had a large bowl of the Posole, which, for her, turned out to be equivalent to the 'all you can eat' option. (her leftovers reheated wonderfully after we arrived in Phoenix). My Carne Asada tacos were perfect, accompanied by a refreshing Horchata. Our server joked about her kids, who were keeping her company in the restaurant that day, each being able to knock off at least one huge bowl of the Posole. I always like it when it's apparent that co-workers in a restaurant get along well. Getting to experience family members doing so was a special treat - they were having a sweet conversation when I brought the check up to the cash register.
Another highlight at La Paloma was a placard on the table, with information about getting involved in helping foster children - a wonderful piece of community involvement to see!
So, food that has a fresh, homemade feel to it, relaxed and friendly service, and a bright, comfortable environment makes La Paloma a perfect place to visit, regardless of your reason for being in Eloy.
Had a delicious dinner there tonight. Great Mexican food and definitely not run of the mill. The white sauce on the enchilada was so good and so unique. Very friendly staff. Very clean, family oriented. Great stop between Phoenix and Tucson.
Delicious food! Rice was excellent! Not bland like most restaurants! Chimichanga was light and crisp. So yummy! Only reason for 4 stars was that sour cream wasn’t automatically added and taco salad could have had more lettuce. Should really be 4.5 stars but that’s not an option. Employees were super nice and attentive! Thank you for a great lunch!!! We’ll be back!
This is the best Mexican restaurant in Pinal County. The rice alone is to die for. The Smothered Burrito is fantastic and the staff are amazing. Take time to look at the amazing artwork inside! In short, if you don't like this place you have poor taste.
This place is awesome! We went hiking to the Peak nearby and were super hungry after. And this place was the closest one, so we tried it out and so should you! Food was great, very friendly people, and cool art on the walls. Make sure to try the desert. Will definitely stop by again when in the area.
