I needed a place to meet up with friends halfway between Phoenix and Tucson that would be easy to find. This is the only place that fit the bill close to I-10. There’s a cozy little spot nearby but it’s only open for dinner. We also needed to grab a bite before going to Picacho Peak State Park since there’s nowhere to eat there (other than picnicking). It’s a gas station and souvenir shop similar to places across the country. Nothing special. If you pass through Casa Grande which is closer to Phoenix there’s a better restaurant than this lousy Dairy Queen.

I used to drive back and forth between Tucson and Scottsdale for years and I always stopped at this station to stretch my legs or get a little ice cream. They have a goofy gift shop with all the touristy things you might want to buy. They always have a great selection of fireworks during the season as well. Every time I stopped in I also found the bathrooms to be clean and tidy. I was always happy to spend a few bucks here.

Very attentive and energetic cashiers. One of them came around the counter and helped me pick a purse color and another played a prank on my husband (in good spirit). A short visit--with amazing views and merchandise. We really enjoyed ourselves.
