Run, don’t walk to this restaurant!!! The food is delicious and the whole experience is made better because the couple that owns this business are amazing!!! They greet everyone like an old friend when you arrive. They genuinely connect with every patron and it shows in the atmosphere! The bbq is delicious. I could eat 5 cornwaffles in one sitting! The pulled pork is DELICIOUS!!! The ribs and the rib tips are sooooooo good!
We went here because it was close and we were not wanting to drive far. We were a little unsure of eating here since it's small and we never heard of it. It was great! My wife and her mom had the pulled pork on corn bread waffle. I had the brisket on cornbread waffle. My wife said it's the best pulled pork she has had in a long time. The sauce was perfect and the texture along with the cornbread was really good.
Absolutely brilliant BBQ! This is a must-stop if you’re in the area. The rich, semi-sweet, sauce was perfectly balanced. I ordered the ribs and was plenty full after 3. The meat was smoked, and fall-off-the-bone-tender. They even have their firewood stacked outside, so you KNOW it’s gonna be good.

We were visiting from KC and found this BBQ gem. We have the pulled pork sandwich with baked beans and potato salad. The pork was melt in your mouth delicious. The beans had a sweet tangy sauce that was great. You have to try the cornbread waffle it was great for dessert! I was so ready to dig in I forgot to take a picture first. The owners were very friendly and welcoming. We will go again the next time we are back in Phoenix.
Alrighty, Maddie Jo's Bbq is pretty great!
This is what we got the Brisket, Pulled Pork and Ribs, Mac n Cheese, Baked Beans and their Waffle Cornbread.
The briskest? CHEFS KISS. It's fantastic. (9/10)
Pulled pork? Great! (8/10)
Ribs? Alright (7/10)
As for the sides they were all pretty okay in my opinion. The mac n cheese is a bit too basic for me, and I am not a fan of the waffle cornbread as I just prefer regular cornbread.
The service was great and welcoming. Both owners were there and made sure to greet us so big kudos to them for that.
It was pretty quiet, but there are plenty of seats with napkin dispensers and other things on the clean tables.
My biggest recommendation and the reason for a 4/5 rating came down to price. I wish they had some sort of Picnic Deal that most bbq places have where I can get 2-3lbs of meats + sides for a decent price to share with the family.
Side Note: They were a little stingy on the sauce so make sure you ask for plenty for more before you leave!
