El Gato Azul has a fantastic tapas menu! The dining experience is unique and fun any time you go. Happy hour is casual, social, and feels like a mini vacation. Dinner is always a good time too. If you go once, it will immediately become a favorite and you will want to go back.
We had planned to have dinner here on Sunday evening but arrived in town from Phoenix just a bit too late. Luckily the charming lady at the hostess stand got us a window table for lunch the next day with no more than a few minutes wait. The tapas were absolutely divine and were perfect for sharing. We started with the caprese,, followed by the beef and blue tacos and the crispy artichoke hearts.
There is great teamwork among the entire staff, so even as they were packed full with guests waiting, the service was friendly and as smooth as silk. We look forward to returning to try more delicious plates! Definitely a new favorite for us in Prescott.
Food is very delicious, would recommend it. I did notice that the older lady (manager?) was talking negatively about a waitress, our waitress in fact. I thought it was very unprofessional and I would suggest looking into this matter. Especially considering our waitress was very kind and attentive. Unfortunate to see a manager take advantage of a good waitress like that. Otherwise service was amazing and food was amazing.
An update. Almost three years later, El Gato Azul is at least as popular and busy as it was back then. Our server was very efficient, even serving at least half of the tables. The choice of tapas was large, each described so well I wanted one of each. Settling down to only two tapas, they were exquisite as were the drinks. A great afternoon snack after a busy, hot day. First on my list for a great, flavorful meal when in Prescott.
Three years ago: Wonderful surprise nestled in Prescott AZ, of all places. Fantastic selection of tapas, along with lunch for the less adventuresome. Superb tapas, great staff, and innovative dishes in a unique environment.
Tapas galore. Sticky Steak entree was cooked to perfection (the rare side of medium-rare). Very weak coffee. Asked for a shot of Kahlua for my coffee but that didn't taste good. I think it was generic - Too sweet. Service was incredibly friendly and outdoor patio was lovely (84 degrees).
