A mini Hearst Castle. Gorgeous building with great staff. It's like an extension of your own living room. Most of the other members are 70+ but it's never so crowded that you can't do you own thing. Amazing and totally worth the membership fees.
Old American style hotel with a rustic feel. Designed by the same architect for Hearst Castle and asilomar resort. You'll enjoy stay if you enjoyed those buildings.
Rooms are a bit tight but has all amenities of modern hotels.
Historic building, amazingly authentic. Perhaps not the place of you want a modern chain hotel or if you are a hard driving road warrior. However, if you want a taste of early 20th century architecture and decor and history, this is stunning. The view from the upper floors and bay-facing room is beyond belief!
The Berkeley City Club Hotel has a beautiful building. The Julia Morgan architecture is stunning. As a Hotel the 1920 building has smaller rooms then newer buildings but they are nicely decorated. There is plenty of closet space and lots of natural light in the rooms. The staff was friendly and I would stay again. Be sure to see the pool and other common spaces of the hotel when you are there.
Now we stumbled across this place quite by accident. We we in town and the place we had booked didn't have our complete booking. We had just flown from the UK and where there to film at Berkeley campus. We called a few places and found two rooms available for the night. The place is fantastic and coming from Europe it felt very home from home. Quirky and amazing designs with a sort of art deco gothic twist. Rooms were fantastic. Showers hot and beds sublime. Parking was easy and next to hotel. I managed to take a picture of a humming bird outside which I've been trying to do for years. Staff great and couldn't recommend enough. Brilliant place.
