Better than the original with essentially identical menu. I still love it 20 years after my student days. The homemade multigrain bread is great as are all the sandwiches. My favorites are turkey, chicken salad, and peanut butter+banana+honey. Best strategy is the half sandwich and half salad (each of which is sufficient for my lunch). Salads are great too.

All available to go, but the insider experience is to sit on a bench shoulder to shoulder and wolf it down. To go portions usually end up much messier for me...So so good

Spot on what i expected and wanted from one of Berkeley's landmark restaurants. If you're from around here, you've been here. The bread is thick, soft and satisfying. Salads feels good and bigger than your head. Come and eat. Walk out feeling satisfied in your belly and healthier overall.

HUGE salads! First time my wife couldn't finish it. Seriously shocking. I had a tuna fish sandwich and added bacon. Wow...delicious. Many choices of fresh bread. Great, healthy and communal place to relax and eat. Only wish I took a couple pics.

Cafe Mezzo is a great place for everyone's appetite! If I was you I would try it, at least to say you did. That's what I did, and love is the very first moment I took a bite am I fresh tuna salad sandwich.

In general expect a moderate wait for monstrously portioned and pretty decent salads and sandwiches. They are made by a very frazzled staff dealing with a large line that are prone to making mistakes in your order if not carefully watched. Any downsides are redeemed by the exceptional breakfast burrito available till 11 a.m. Soups taste pretty good but are not hearty enough for my taste. Also don't get the PB and banana, it's half a jar of peanut butter with only half a banana.
