In a word DELICIOUS! Mac & Cheese on point, and don't get me started on their German Chocolate Cake. Folks it took me back to the ones I use to make with my family as a kid. Talk about a nostalgic moment!
The atmosphere was cozy and lively. The chicken was juicy and delicious. The waffles however were amazing. The slight hint of sweetness was fantastic. Slightly crispy and a bit smaller than I would have liked, but definitely worth the visit.
The service was very good, and the interior has a friendly, retro diner look. It's open really late most days which is nice. I got the veggie burger which had a a patty made with rice, vegetables, and such. The bun was sandwich bread, which was strange, but it tasted great. The waffles, fries, and chicken tenders were all very good, too, but I found the side of mac n' cheese to be a bit bland and too small for the price.
Best place for a sampling of good old fashioned Southern cooking. Be sure to get some collard greens and sweet potato fries. Fried chicken and waffles are the specialty. Then walk off the calories at Jack London Square. Great, reasonable parking garage across the street with restaurant validation for 1 hour.
Me and a friend came in here on a Saturday early afternoon. Quick service. Delicious food. Our waitress Kim was so sweet. The $11 bottomless mimosas were a pleasant surprise and we said yes to them right away for the price! They were always refilled and we never had to wait to ask questions about refills or our food. We shared the Dale's choice and added a side waffle and a side of the mac and cheese. We are stuffed! We would visit this place every time we visit Oakland!
