This is a hidden gem with nice outdoor seating on a sunny day, and also good views inside if it’s too cold. Great spot to chill out and watch the boats float by while you drink one of the many German beers on tap. Bretzel with Obatzda is a favorite. Good sausages too.
Very good food, somewhat ditzy waitress. Went for brunch, I loved that the eggs Benedict came on a potato pancakes. Eggs were perfect. My wife enjoyed her spaetzel and the pickled egg on her bloody Mary. It's SF beer week, so they had a local brewery tap takeover. German style beers made locally, all very fresh and good.
Had dinner with a friend, been to a couple of Brotzeits a around the world and other places had better food. Sausages where nothing special and the sauerkraut was soggy. The staff were friendly and the view was good and they had a out doors so a day visit for beers would be better.
I had the fish and chips and I gotta tell you, it was delicious. The fish batter has some interesting spices in it that are subtle but excellent.
The "chips" on the other hand could have been finely sliced hard cardboard. I didn't care for the cole slaw though it did have a nice pink color. They serve Mexican coke, high in cane sugar. They also have a very popular selection of beer. The view is nice, seating comfortable and there is a quirky interior. Check out the bottle chandeliers. This place has been here in one form or another for years, this iteration is pretty good. It is hipster safe, so bring your fedora, beard and sip a beer looking hip. I would definitely go back and have the fish and chips, for the fish, again.
