“Like a hidden gem. Not much foot traffic in the area. Lots of seating. Located in an older area with older buildings. I also noticed lots of folks calling in orders. We ordered the fried alligator appetizer and shared a seafood combo plate piled high with french fries, huge fried catfish filets, large fried shrimp - cooked perfectly, fried oysters and fried crawfish tails - more than enough for two adults on one plate. I lived in Florida and feel like I know alligator and was concerned the alligator might taste like it flew in on economy freight. Not so, the alligator was tender and juicy. All the appropriate dipping sauces came with the meal. The seafood was fresh - no fishy smell or taste. We will go again. Highly recommend!!!”

They have a ton of variety: classics like pepperoni, margarita, Hawaiian etc. but personally I go for the specialties: pear and Gorgonzola, roasted pepper and sausage (which is spicy and sweet), and my all-time favorite: burrata, pistachio, fig, and arugula. They also have "Detroit style pizza" which I had never had before but it's almost like a deep dish except more sophisticated and more cheese! The owner is really passionate about getting the flavor right and it shows.”

“Good no-nonsense place to get dim sum, and prices are very reasonable. Menu is in Chinese but just ask the lady behind the counter what it all means and she'll explain. The shrimp dumplings are yummie, as are the pork dumplings. Good for takeout too, if you don't have a lot of time, you're in and out in 30 seconds. Easy parking, much easier than Chinatown downtown Oakland (which is a nightmare). Recommended.”

“Always a favorite spot of ours. Tacos, quesadillas, burritos all are amazing. The shrimp burrito is off the hook. But the tacos, so simple and so delicious! Very authentic. Not in the best part of town, so just be aware. There are usually 1 or 2 guys in the parking lot pan handling. There are 2 guys that can be pretty aggressive and just know the employees don't do anything about it. So, just be aware. This is a food truck. You walk up and order, but they do offer plenty of outdoor seating if you want to eat there. I relieve there also have tables inside, but we've always sat outside. There is also a real restroom on site. Cash only!”

“What’s not to love about this place? Eat delicious chicken pho and play the lottery. Definitely my kind of place. It’s a no frills environment and the food is good and cheap. The pho is super customizable—you can get bone-in, boneless, dark or white meat with an array of noodle types—plus, you can add their yummy green garlicky sauce to make it a really personalized bowl. I also played the lottery after my meal so hopefully by the time you read this I’m a millionaire.”

“I'm not sure how I managed to miss this place as a Oakland native. I've been going to the sister restaurant in Oakland Chinatown for years, until they closed recently. If you feel comfortable going to dives, then the angels will sing when you walk through the door. They have an overwhelming selection of Vietnamese food, at good prices and plenty of seating. If you aren't familiar with the cuisine, then there will be a lot of pointing at what you want to try. You can order sandwiches, noodle soups or multi-item plates. For multi-item plates, just select from the numerous buffet items and they will put together a container of food for a fair price. I ordered 3 items. It is all so delicious and satisfying. I'm kicking myself for not finding this place sooner.”

“Grandpa Approval The chicken served has thin skin and no underlined fat and tender meat at very reasonable price. Very clean table settings, spotless plates, bowls, even sauces bottles. Sprouts served after roots are removed. The steam rice rolls or banh cuon is excellent. The rice sheet is soft but not braking into paste, sign of quality. The fish sauce is little more on the sweet side and light in salt side. One can adjust to own taste. Parking is a challenge but worthy the Parking effort. Food at this price they deserve five stars in terms of value and quality.”

First off, they never answer the phone... then when you get the off chance to actually make a phone order, once you get there they start cooking it! So what's the point of the phone and telling me 10-15 mins?? And you can never be sure if their open when they say they are. Then it's a mom and pop kinda dive so it's tiny... really tiny. Also, everyone there is handling money AND food...”

He made a beautiful luncheon, was very responsive to my menu requests and questions, and his staff served and presented the food in a very appealing manner. His prices were reasonable given the high quality of the food and attention to detail. Eleven days before the event when we increased the headcount from 200 to 280, he handled the unexpected turnout seamlessly, supplied more than enough food, and designed a room layout with three buffets so the wait was minimal for all attendees.
