Maki Japanese and Vietnamese Cuisine

When you first walk in, I was greeted by not only the server but the chefs as well.

The sashimi is the best Ive had in Chico. So fresh, so good. Drooling just thinking about them.

The salmon just melts in your mouth. Normally I dont like Tuna sashimi much but here it was good. Almost like Japan. Hamachi was amazing, Octopus was tasty as well. Shrimp was eh, but thats just me.

Their grilled pork is outstanding, great flavor tenderness. Sweet but not too sweet, savory asian barbeque flavor.

The drinks we had was good as well. Mango smoothie was really good.

But most of all the service here was amazing. Server is amazing.

Will come again to try different things.

The people where are so friendly! From the moment I stepped in, they all greeted me with a 😁 Smile. Even the customers have a relationship with the employees as you can tell returning customers from new customers.

They have one side of the room for dining and a bar section, then the other half with Christmas ⛄ decoration and seating too🎁 for ordering coffee or 🍵 teas😁.
I purchased the matcha smoothie, 🥤 Thai milk tea and strawberry 🍓milk green tea. All drinks come in 1size and it was so convenient and thoughtful of the waitress to have them all placed in a cup holder! It wasn't too busy close to closing time, but there was a steady stream of customers entering to pick up orders.

Dragon roll and spicy shrimp eel roll were so good!!!! The restaurant was clean and very presentable as well as professional and there was a Very kind gentleman that served me my pick up order and he was even sweet enough to put the sauce on the side of my rolls just in case I wasn’t eating them right away. I got the dragon roll and the spicy shrimp eel roll and they were both perfect and tasted phenomenal!

I take pride in giving my reviews on restaurants and food in Chico. It's difficult for me to rate any place 10/10 but this place is the hidden gem of Chico, CA. Absolutely amazing flavors in the food. Everything is fresh and made from scratch. Food down to the plating looks excellent as seen in the photos. Prices are definitely great for the product quality you get as well as the atmosphere. The tables and seating is comfortable with plenty of space between so no one feels cramped. I did only try the Japanese side of the restaurant so I can't speak for the Vietnamese side. Thank you Chef Jackie for giving me the experience of a lifetime. I hope for your long term success and I hope everyone in Chico gets a chance to enjoy your restaurant. 10/10!

Date night with the Wife, and a new restaurant was called for. Enter Maki...a smallish establishment with BIG taste! Make no mistake, this is a DREAM to eat at. The menus are the perfect size for the space they're in, and they make proper use. We got 2 Bento boxes, 1 with Salmon, 1 with Teriyaki, and each came with a California roll, side salad, rice, pot stickers/shrimp, soup, and soy beans...a FULL MEAL. We also ordered a Spicy Tuna roll, the Poké Tuna, and the fried cream cheese appetizers. You want REAL, Authentic tasting food... with outstanding service AND an attentive staff? Right here!! Fresh crisp vegetables, flavorful meats, and all cooked/ made to perfection. This could literally give Japanese Blossom a run for its money at 1/2 their price. Plenty to take home for leftovers as well. Usually a date night involves talking, but this time it was all about the meal and present company. We thoroughly love this place, and you will too.
