Their bacon cheeseburger is a real contender. Great with their solid fries.
I brought the family in here for a quick lunch after an outing. The location is a little hidden behind the sushi place on the corner, however, you can find it very easily by just walking out of Trader Joes and looking hard left. The outside windows are brightly decorated, and there is a colorful sandwich board outside the entrance listing specials. The restaurant itself is moderately sized with seating for maybe 50 people, so we were relieved to see that there was only one table occupied when we arrived at 2:30 pm. Maybe it was past the lunch rush or the rainy weather outside, but we were mostly hoping that it wasn't bad food keeping people away.
We were greeted immediately by our server, Justin, who showed us to a 6 top table. The menu was mostly sandwiches/burgers with some salads. The price point for the sandwiches was generally around $12-14 for the sandwich a la carte. Fries cost around $4 if you are so inclined. Our order was taken by our efficient and friendly server, and the food arrived shortly thereafter.
The Good: I thought their Chicken Sandwich was as good or better than most of the versions I have had in other restaurants. The roll was fresh and soft, the chicken was cooked well with a crispy, flavorful breading on it that did not get soggy from the coleslaw on the sandwich. I should disclose that I generally do not care for coleslaw on anything because it is usually a cloyingly sweet and wilted mess, but this sandwich was one of those rare exceptions where the chef showed enough restraint to make the slaw with just enough sweet to accent the other flavors on the sandwich. Also the sandwich was a good size - enough to feel like you've had a meal, but not so large you feel guilty or bloated after eating it. I don't know about you, but I feel morally obligated to consume fried sandwiches in their entirety because you know they will never be as good later as they are right then. Many times this has left me with more regret than satisfaction. Not today!!! The BBQ burger was also very well executed. Once again, attention to detail like a soft yet tasty bun and well seasoned meat made the burger more than something you could get at a fast food joint. BBQ sauce was on point as well giving the whole package a tangy/sweet kick. The Paris Burger was well made, but doesn't rise to the level of the BBQ burger because I found the flavors of the sauteed mushroom, onion, and brie to combine to form a texturally monotone and muddled flavor that just felt a little indistinct. I couldn't bring myself to call it mediocre, but it's teetering on that edge. I will also include the facilities and the waitstaff in the Good category.
The Bad: Nothing at all, thanks!
The Mediocre: The Philly Cheesesteak fell a little short due to the lack of peppers besides a few red peppers cooked into the meat. Other than that, it was well cooked and had good flavor with the same very quality bread roll as the fried chicken sandwich. It really cried out for that extra kick banana peppers would have provided. I will also include the fries in the mediocre category - not for the flavor or preparation which were both on point. In this case, I found the cost for value to be lacking. The little fry baskets the french fries come in are adorable, but at $4 per order are just a little too... little. So while I applaud the cuteness factor, I think you need to also consider decreasing that price a little in recognition of the small portions that can fit in those cute baskets.
Overall: We enjoyed our meal at Bistro Burger very much and overall had a good experience. their price point is on par with most of the other burger joints that seem to be popping up all over Lafayette, and everywhere for that matter, ending up around $17 for a sandwich and fries. I wouldn't necessarily call it a great bargain, but I would call it good food. We will keep Bistro Burger in mind when looking to grab a nice meal in a comfortable, friendly environment.
I’d come here any day! Oh and I prefer coming to this burger joint than the other burger place called ROAM on Lafayette. The staff is very accommodating. Their burgers are superb! Enough said. I recommend this place hands down...two thumbs up!
I was there in the off hours (4pm). It was quiet, service was swift and friendly. The hamburger was very good, cooked properly, and the fries were AMAZING. Definitely planning to go back and try the chicken sandwiches and onion rings.
I came here for the first time with my family when they had live music and it was wonderful. I just got a regular burger and their sweet potato fries and it was fantastic. I couldn’t believe how good the burger was and the music was wonderful as well. Great atmosphere, such a wonderful and comfy place that I will definitely take my family to again. While the menu is small everyone in my family heavily enjoyed their food!
