Hog Wild Bar-B-Que

Food was really good but, for the place being small, the service could have been better. A few of us had finished our drinks after the food was served and nobody came to our table to check if we needed anything.

I ate there today, May 5, and I feel this is THE best place around for meat, salad and drink. Friendly and nice people run this place. Will go back when I'm up that way. Don't miss this one, you will be satisfied ....
I came back to say something about the potato salad. It's too smooth. Like a pudding. I like chunks of potato and onions and celery in there with mayo, not so much mustard. But everything else is AOK ...

The brisket here is amazing. It was better two years ago, but even with the drop in quality it's still 5 stars. Their other meats are good too but all I really care about is the brisket. Corn bread is good, and so is the honey butter. Cole Slaw and beans are also decent, but the beans are a style I'm not too thrilled with. Staff is accommodating and they take phone orders. My daughter requests I pick up Hog Wild when I'm driving through Placerville (we live 3 hours away).

I used to love this place. It was the best Bar-B-Que that I had found anywhere near Sacramento. The first time I went here I involuntarily moaned when I ate a piece of the brisket. It was amazing! Alas, it is no longer amazing. Last time I went here I found out that ownership had changed in October 2018. The same quality just isn't there anymore. It is still decent Bar-B-Que, isn't just isn't great Bar-B-Que anymore. If I'm passing through Placerville in the future I may stop if they are still open, but I won't be making the hour drive anymore just to have their food. I am truly sad to no longer be able to look forward to eating here.
