John Muir Lodge in the beautiful (and completely underrated) Kings Canyon National Park. This is a great "home base" for your vacation here. From this location you are centrally located to reach the Giant Sequoias, Cedar Grove, and all the mountains you could ask for. The accommodation is comfortable and exactly what the doctor ordered when it comes to disconnecting and really connecting with your loved ones and nature. 10/10!
If you want to disconnect COMPLETELY and enjoy nature this is for you. Some cabins have no electricity or heat so be aware. Other than that it's an amazing experience everyone should have atleast once.
Great location for both Kings Canyon and Sequoia. Pretty lodge with good rooms, including televisions. The tent cabins are nice but bring extra layers for the nights with no heating!
This corner of the world is a true timeless gem. Every summer while growing up, my family would go to Cedars grove and stay in the beautiful log cabins located just below the John Muir Lodge. We started going there before they even began constructing the new facility. I just returned for the first time in almost 20 years at the beginning of this last June...and everything was just as pristine and beautiful as I had remembered from 2 decades earlier. This is a sacred ground and you will truly feel the presence of the giants that are the sequoia trees surrounding this land.
Side note: dont expect to have any cell phone service while up here unless you have Verizon. I have at&t and there was absolutely no cell service, However this is a place to go to when looking to unplug and get off the map to reset your bearings anyways. I had no cell service for a week and it was the most relaxing week I've had in recent memory.
We stayed in the cabins during a spring snow fall. The thermostat in the cabin could not keep up with the freezing temperatures and the space heater could only help keep the room around 55 degrees so, if you are coming in the colder season bring sleeping bags or extra blankets. Luckily the blazing fire in the lodge kept us warm and the hospitality was great. Overall, great stay and beautiful area
