Benbow Historic Inn

Justin our guide in Forest Bathing was unbelievably knowledgeable and his love the forest is infectious. It made our time at the Benbow all the more meaningful. It is well worth booking a tour with him.
Dinner at the Benbow was top notch and the Benbow itself is a perfect special place to contemplate the forest and time in a very special place.

Very nice place filled with history. Built in the 1920's, the halls are filled with photos and art from over the years. Even a photo of Clark Gable flying in to stay. The grounds are truly remarkable and the staff is even better. Room very comfortable and why anyone would stay anywhere else while traveling thru here makes no sense to me. The price is not that much more than a 1 star hotel along the Famous Route 101 Coastal Scenic Highway. Everything on this Scenic Route is expensive. So why not stay here in luxury for a little more and enjoy the finer things in life?

When we travel we like to stay at historic hotels that have character. We selected Benbow for that reason and we weren't disappointed. The hotel is filled with antiques and art that support its historic past. The sole reason for our trip was to see the coastal redwoods on the Avenue of the Giants. The hotel arranged a tour of the redwoods with Justin, a local naturalist and he was outstanding! He took us to areas that weren't crowded with tourists where we could enjoy the peacefulness and majesty of the forest. Justin was very informative and answered all of our questions about the plant life and history of the redwoods in this area. He also provided us with sources for additional reading. The tour with Justin was the highlight of our trip and we will be back for a follow-up.

Unique and interesting food and location. Reasonable price for the quality. Quiet live music. Great vegetarians dishes. Wile salmon cooked to perfection.

We had an incredible stay. The room was magnificent, with a grand fireplace and garden view, and giant redwoods in our view! The best part of the stay was an incredible tour of the redwoods by Justin Legge. He is so incredibly knowledgeable about the redwoods, and had the best stories! It was truly a wonderful experience. I highly recommend this amazing tour.
