Really good, first experience with barraco?(sp)... they actually serve crickets! I couldn't bring myself to taste them tho????
I saw all the unique food here and was very excited about eating here. We went family style and I helped everyone pick the food so luckily I was able to try almost everything I wanted to taste.
The rabbit Mixiotes and it wasn't as good as I expected.
The barbacoa boneless rib meat and it was decent.
The grasshoppers were decent. They were cooked in lime or something and gave them a sour taste. I feel they would be good to snack on while drinking beer.
The quail was amazing. It was cooked well and had such a flavorful seasoning. It taste like it was seasoned with the Birria seasoning and grilled.
The corn truffle in a cheese taco shell was also another amazing and unique dish. It tasted mildly like black truffle but in a crunchy outer and soft inner cheese taco.
I would go back just for the quail and corn truffle dished.
Also the server was very nice and was very helpful. She recommended the corn truffle in the cheese taco. She was also very knowledgeable about the food and preparation.
So delicious! I'm grateful that mediocre diner is gone. Not afraid to have many interesting menu items. Good vegetarian options. I'm super impressed. Lamb quail brain feet rabbit grasshopper blood sausage. A little bit of everything for everyone!
Authentic Mexican cuisine from Texcoco. Everything is really fresh and flavorful. A lot of items on the menu are not found in a regular Mexican restaurant. 100 % Texcoco Authenticity in food, drinks, and decorations.
Great friendly service.
Looking for an authentic and unique dining experience? Definitely come try this place. Lamb brains, grasshoppers, blood sausage, corn fungus, and many other things. Pretty decent priced margaritas and a whole bunch of other stuff on the menu that I didn't even know what it was. This is authentic Mexican lamb barbecue. I loved it and had a good time with this different dining experience. This time we tried all of the weird crazy stuff because we were interested. When I go back I hope to try the more traditional lamb barbecue stuff. Menu is pretty extensive in interesting. Staff was nice and helpful. All of their sources were some of the best I've had. A few of them were spicy as hell. Great spot and awesome addition to the east side. Really hope that this place stays open and gets business. We need culture in this city!
