Bakersfield Black Bear Diner

Great place with warm feeling of mom and pop restaurant. Breakfast menu is very diverse. We have meet lovers and vegetarians in our party and everybody could find something tasty ???? Our waitress Ashley Z. Was friendly, welcoming and very efficient. I loved that she suggested for us to get a bear claw and it was amazing . Thank you Ashley for the great start of the day

This location was just OK. Fairly close to the freeway for easy access. Parking wasn't that great though.

Corned beef hash was delicious as usual. Problem is that they were a little stingy with it. Normally these more of the corned beef and less of the potatoes. Not sure if they changed they portion sizes or it was just this location. The potatoes and peppers were tasty, just seemed to serve as a filler.

The wife had eggs Benedict. It tasted good but the poached eggs were a little under cooked. The Canadian bacon seemed to be extra salty. Over all it was still a decent meal.

We'll probably skip this location next time though.

Prime rub tonight took a friend they couldn't finish their plate it was nice and large and perfect.
Cooked perfectly. The soup was clam chowder loaded with clams. It was an actual bowl not a little cup. The rest was great. The service was really good and friendly.

I love this Black Bear Diner, it's by far my favorite out of the several I've visited. I've always had a good experience here.
The food is always delicious - waffles being my personal favorite. And we've always had a friendly server. Sometimes service is a little slow, but never enough to deter us from coming back.
Overall this restaurant is friendly, clean and well maintained.

My brother introduced me to Black Bear Diner when I was in Bakersfield visiting. When you pull into the parking lot and see the hand-carved bears in from of the building, your stomach will rumble with excitement! Once inside, you are greeted with very friendly and welcoming staff, and a barrage of appetite fueling aromas! Also, while waiting for your table you can browse their gift section and cake selection. The menus are very unique, they are set up to look like old newspaper articles and have a lot of information on the history of the Black Bear Diner. Now to the food! When you plate arrives, the heaping serving sizes will intimidate you, but this is what you've waited and prepared yourself for! You can do this! The rest is history as you leave feeling like a Bear that just came out of hibernation! Continues to be one of my favorite restaurants!
