Big D's Smokehouse & Grill

Thanks to Big D for the best customer service and amazing food. Me and my family have been here twice and it’s always great service and good food. We live in Madera Ca but, always stop in when we’re passing through Bako.

I've been craving a Pulled Pork and Slaw Sandwich for awhile. I've tried other BBQ places in town and wasn't all too happy with the food. We just moved to this area of town and decided to give it a try, especially after reading the owners' bio/experience. I've ate at other restaurants that he was a Chef at and knew I couldn't go wrong.

When I walked into Big D's, I was hit with the typical smell of a BBQ joint located in the South. I ordered the Pork & Slaw Sandwich with a side of Potato Salad to go. Needless to say, I was brought back to my experience of my first Pulled Pork Sandwich in Memphis in the late 1970s. It was DELICIOUS and to die for! And, I love their Slaw. It's an oil/vinegar dressed slaw with tiny bits of green apple. That's very much a Southern thing! The Potato Salad was top notch also. It had bits of chopped black olives with a mayo/mustard dressing. Also DELICIOUS!

I would highly recommend Big D's for a BBQ Joint. It's clean, the staff was courteous and service was fast. I will be a regular there. Next time I have to try their Fried Okra.

Great place. Tried the new salmon sandwich and it was great. Grilled to perfection. I have been more than satisfied every time I come here

Okay flavor but they buy very cheap meats and their barbecue sauce taste like ketchup. Its unfortunate because the ribs are very well cooked and the coleslaw and homemade pickles are great!
Edit: No I didn't not confuse your ketchup with both your flavors of BBQ sauce, they just suck.

First time being there. Ordered the pastrami sandwich with BBQ on the side. It was delicious, meat had a good flavor and was very tender, not stringy like traditional pastrami. Mac and cheese was OK but not bad either. I would go back. Place was clean restrooms were clean. Staff friendly and helpful.
