Kohnen's Country Bakery

I don't know how we have never stopped here before! We drive through 6 or 8 times a year. Everything we bought was delicious! We just went for pastries, but the sandwiches looked amazing too. Next time we'll have to stop for lunch! It was around lunchtime when we went and it was hopping busy, so be sure to plan time for that.

Everything about this local German bakery is fantastic and true to it's ethnicity. A choice of indoor and outdoor dining while you watch trains come and go. The bakery items are made fresh, by hand. Even some cute trinket type items are for sale. Just cute all around!

Kohnen's is the one of the best bakeries I've ever been to. They have the best sandwiches, and they are so big. You can have half for lunch and half for dinner and be so content. And there bakery is fantastic. My husband loves all the German stuff they have. Their lemon bars and eclairs are superb! If ever passing through Tehachapi, Kohnen's is a must!! They do not disappoint

This place was fantastic! I tried a sandwich with some thick slice cheese bread which was soft and delicious. My wife and I split a cheese danish which was one of the best I have ever had! Nice help and welcoming environment.

HUGE sandwich. We shared one and it filled us both. Layers and layers of meat and cheese.

We couldn’t resist the temptation to have a sweet and the apple strudel was amazing. Crisp apples, crisp topping, rich filling with a flaky crust. We shared but fought over every bite. We loved it.

The service was quick and efficient. They were willing to make some recommendations and helped with the sandwich choices.

It’s not far off the road and definitely worth the stop.
