Saddle Peak Lodge

I'm not even sure how to describe how great Saddle Peak Lodge is and how much you should visit this establishment but I'll try. First of all the food is incredible. The wine list is long and wonderful. If you can't find something on the wine list that you don't like, then you don't like wine. The menu is very varied and unique, things like elk and bison along with other wonderful choic is on the menu but if that's too exotic for your tasting the ribeye I had was simply incredibly delicious. This place is not cheap but I've paid more and had less quality. The staff is friendly, helpful and knows when to take a hike. I honestly can't say enough good things.

Food is always delicious. Service needs a lot of work. Timing of the food from the server was way off. Got courses without silverware. Asked multiple time to have someone clear cocktail glasses that I pushed to the edge of the table. Sat there until dessert. Server brought the check during the begining of dessert service. Dropped the credit card down. Of course he picked it immediately. Dropped the card back off and not one person cleand 4 dessert plates and side plates. We left and still nothing cleared. Truly a classic restaurant will return only because off the food. Well done kitchen staff.

Fantastic food, service! Celebrated my birthday here and it could not have been better! From the drinks to the entrees to the desserts. All fantastic. Worth the trip. A lodge feel, romantic. But not overly so that you can't bring a family.

I have not been able to find a good place in Southern California for elk till now. I went there for an anniversary and was not disappointed in anything. I shared the game trio (emu, elk, bison sort rib) and the new Zealand elk plates. I ordered medium rare as recommended and everything was cooked to perfection. The wine list looked amazing. I went for a rose and bottled sparkling water. Even the sparkling water was the best I had ever had. We finished with the bread pudding and it was so yummy. Our waitress Mary was so friendly, classy and professorial. Saddle Peak Lodge really derived on making it a special occasion.
