Sushi Yuen

This place is gem. Best sushi for miles. Quality and service are excellent

visited Sushi Yuen for a birthday lunch yesterday. we thought we would have to order takeout, but they are now taking reservations for dine-in!

upon entering for dine-in, there have some precautionary measures. our temperatures were taken with a temperature gun. each seat (i counted 6 total) had their own hand sanitizer gel bottle. there is also plexi-glass between the sushi chef and the patrons. there is also a small cut out window near the bottom of each plexi-glass so the sushi chef can place the sushi item on a plate for the customer to then pick up and eat. we ordered the 8 piece lunch special and also ordered a few other pieces of nigiri sushi. everything was delicious and i would happily revisit if/when in the area.

my favorites were all the nigiri pieces that had some shiso pairing.

A very pleasant surprise to find this sushi place in Rowland Height. Everything we had was fresh. The miso soup, wasabi and ginger came as a big surprise as how good these things can be. They really pay attention to the details. One can tell the miso soup broth was not from instant mix, the wasabi was freshly grated. They pickled their own ginger and it is not your average ginger. Our sushi was made to order, each one came beautifully made with fresh ingredients and perfect sushi rice. The sweetness and temperature of the rice was just right to complement the fish. The chef was friendly and efficient, he was kept super busy but not a moment of delay to our on going orders, big kudos to the chef!

Definitely order the omokase for $40/ person. It comes with the freshest and most succulent selection of fish. The pace of the meal is perfect as well as the chef only serves your next morsel only after you finish what’s on your plate. I took my mom and best friend here on separate occasions and they both loved it. The chef even threw in a free dessert after he saw how sad I was after realizing the meal was over. Will definitely be back.

If you like traditional Japanese sushi then you'll need to give this place a try. The outside of the restaurant was pretty basic looking. Inside looked bright, modern, and clean.

You can definitely see their sushi making skills with the food that they serve. You can also taste the excellent quality of the fish. All that without having to pay too much compared to some of the nearby higher end comparable sushi restaurants. If you want to sit at the sushi bar, you'll definitely want to make a reservation as the spots are very limited. They have tables in the back if interacting with the sushi chefs isn't a necessity for you.

You should be able to find a parking spot on the ground floor, but if not, they have underground parking at this plaza.

Some people may have a problem with this as most sushi restaurants do not charge for tea, however please note that their tea is not free.
